2.5 miles….

Did you know that is a very, very long ways to cross country ski? I didn’t realize just how far it was until we got about 2/3 of the way done and I was tired. I’m not a fast skier, really I’m out there to enjoy myself with Mike so it’s never a race. We started skiing at 5:45 and finished up at 7:30. Candle light skiing is a treat. It was just the perfect temp at zero with no wind, wonderful candle lite trails and a full moon. We took some pictures, some good, some okay but I wanted to share them with you anyways.

Today the kids got to see the kids. My daycare got to go see the baby goats. They loved it. I love baby goats, they love to be held, cuddled and they suck on your fingers, nose, clothes. Take a peek….

I took a few pictures of the kids at home too for their parents Valentine gifts. Not positive which ones I’ll use but here’s my little ones.

101_1425 101_1427

And last but not least….

It’s nap time….really neep time…

101_1421  101_1423

So that was our day. A great day. Wouldn’t trade today for a million bucks.

Tomorrows a new day. Shopping in the morning, an Eagle Court of Honor in the afternoon and then hopefully a relaxing evening. That is if I can even move after skiing today. I did fall 4 times, two pretty good ones and two just sorta slips. 3 I got up on my own, one Mike just took his skis off and picked me up. I didn’t know he could do that. He said, I am 17 mom and you’re not that big.

Good night my friends. Sleep well, I’m betting I will, at least I’m hoping so. Take care and God Bless!!

Word of the day….

You know what neep is? It's not a nap and it's not sleeping it's that in-between where you get to neep for 3 or so hours instead of napping for an hour and sleeping for 6. That's our word of the day. I’m taking one of those this afternoon. I am so tired. I don’t know if it’s a family trait or what but everyone in my family experiences it. About every 6-8 months we go though a week or two of no sleeping. We’ll sleep maybe a couple of hours at night but that’s all and after a week of that a person is so dead tired they can’t even think straight. Well I’m at that point. I am tired. To wake up this morning I went for a jog. Nothing far, just about 1/3 of a mile, rest and then 1/3 back but I woke up, especially since it’s –21* out there.

After breakfast today we are going to go and visit great grandma and grandpa and then go and see the kids. Nope, not the people kind of kids, the goat kind of kids. Mark and Isaac have 40 or so new kids so I’m taking my kids to see their kids. I’ll share pictures with you when we are done. We are also going to finish up the Valentine’s gift today with the pictures. I’ll share them too when all done.

So for now, two kids are up watching a movie, one is sleeping and one more to come about 9:30. My “kid” when to work this morning. I still can’t imagine him turning 18 soon. 18, WOW!!! Time flies by people, enjoy your little ones because they really do grow up fast.

Have a great weekend my friends. Take care and God Bless!!!

Remember Cleo?

Remember when I told you about my mama’s best friend dying from cancer? Well I took mama to see her a week ago and took some pictures of them together. Next week I’ll take mama back with a gift from her and I. What do you think?

101_1419

I think it turned out pretty good. Cleo is hanging in there and really doing pretty good. Cleo is the wonderful lady on the right and the beautiful woman on the left is my mama.

I just had to share this with you. Such great ladies and such terrific friendship!!!

Have a great afternoon. God Bless!!!

Got a question…

Is there anyone out there or anyone that knows of a mama of an almost 18 year old only child? I’m just curious. I think it would be so neat to get to know someone that might feel the same as I do, or has different ideas or approaches to things.

A cool thought….

In a short month Mike turns 18 which means he is no longer an active boy scout. Not exactly that really, because he’s part of the Venture Crew 52 and an O.A. brotherhood member but no longer in Troop 52 other then an adult leader or merit badge counselor….anyways, the troops Court of Honor is February 22nd, his last in his troop. Mike will be receiving his 6th palm, what that means has he earned 50 merit badges in his scouting adventures. Reason I’m saying this is, he’s really earned 52, the highest amount in our troop since they came into service in the late 1930’s. What I find super cool about this is, is the number…52. 52 merit badges, Troop 52, Venture Crew 52. Sorta cool don’t you think? I am so proud of all his hard work in this troop. If you have a boy and there is a cub scout troop, boy scout troop or a venture crew in your area get your son involved. You and he will not regret it. Mike started out in 1st grade as a Tiger Cub and has earned the highest rank as an Eagle Scout. I wouldn’t in a million years trade a minute of the time we’ve spent in scouts. I have been active since the beginning also. Mostly as an adult helper but now as our troop treasure since 2006 and a committee chair of our Venture Crew, a merit badge counselor for our scouts and I’m known as their Scout mommy, an honor to say the least. This year is the Boy Scouts 100 anniversary, you will be seeing commercials, ads, flyers and other things this year to teach you about the scouts. Take time to see just what is happening and what they are all about. You won’t regret it. If you are a parent of a scout and have any questions or need ideas or what not, ask me and I’ll answer your question. If I don’t know the answer I will find out for you or send you in the right direction. It’s a learning experience of a life time and so worth the efforts to become a scout.

I didn’t start this posting as an infomercial I really just wanted to get to know another parent or two with an only son that about to graduate. It is a total different experience having an only child though I can’t compare since I’m just me.

It’s bed time for me. 4:30 just comes to early if I stay up much past 10:00. Good night my friends, thank you always for all your comments, support and time you take to answer my question, share your ideas and your wonderful blogs.

God Bless you and your families.

Cool post to share with you….

If only.... This is a post you are going to want to check out. It’s about menu planning and there’s even recipes to check out. I love recipes. It’s all from Blue Cricket Design. She has so many cool things to look at, read about and try. Take time when you can and go see what’s what. You’ll be glad you did.

Kid’s project…

101_1398 101_1389

101_1400_00

More to come…I am going to take the kids pictures and they can paste them in their frames. Justin used the template and make some hearts for me to cut out so we are going to put hearts in a collage setting and then their pictures. Just something different. I’ll show you the finally project at the end of the week. I have all three on Saturday so will have time to take a good picture of them.

I got the last of the jewelry cleaned up. Remember this post…?… Oh lookie... Well these are the last of the pictures. Here’s the pile of kids jewelry and Hannah showing us what it looks like on.

101_1403_00 101_1401_00

And here is what I kept for jewelry making, craft things, or just I have to have ideas…

101_1405

101_1406

I need to get the kids grandma’s address so we can send her a thank you. It was so much fun going though all of this and being able to play and keep it. Kim loves what she got and has so many cool ideas. Anyone else have some old jewelry they’d like to get rid of? I’ll take it, it can be junky stuff, costume stuff, pieces of this and that. I’ll help pay the postage if you want to send it here. Just e-mail me and we’ll figure something out. It’s just so much fun going though the old stuff and finding all kinds of good things to use.

Well the kids are down and I need to exercise so I better just go and do it. I’m tired today so dragging a bit but will still go and do since it’s less then 7 days to my weigh in.

Take care my friends and have a great afternoon. God Bless!!!

Give away… for the Ubercrafter….

Go here….Kim, is having a give away. She made some super cool Valentine’s bunting. She made these yesterday and boy are so cool. Go leave a comment, and that’s all she’s asking, and you might have a chance to win. GO FOR IT!!!!

Have a great, I might be back. Take care and God Bless!!!

Meet Bobby….

Well you’ve really met Bobby before in other pictures with Wilbur but I wanted you me really met Bobby. Bobby is our cat that we didn’t pick. He came to us from a daycare parents friend. He was a drop off that someone left at work and she took him home but he didn’t do well with the other cat so we adopted him. Bobby is a cat of his own. Cats are independent anyways but Bobby has a way of making you feel either like the stupidest or the smartest cat owner on earth. Bobby loves love…when he wants it…Bobby hates people…lots of the time….Bobby is so clean and pretty…all of the time….Bobby loves me…some of the time… Bobby love Wilbur…when he wants a sleeping partner…Bobby is ….well a cat. Here are some pictures of Bobby.

I love cats, my hubby hates cats, Mike wants a lover cat…well, we have Bobby. We are Bobby’s people and he keeps us on a tight leash and that make him happy. I wouldn’t trade Bobby for another cat. He’s perfect!!

Have a great day. God Bless!!!

Busy weekend…

101_1379_00

I made this last Valentine’s but didn’t get to share it with you since I wasn’t blogging yet. This is another Kim’s idea, she makes lots of mobiles, beautiful ones so I had to try too. I love how this turned out. I don’t have a really good place to hang it though but the window works and I can see it sitting in the evening. You know how I like hearts…

Well the blankets are done and ready to ship off. We finished up the last one tonight. I so love working with Mike on projects. He has such a huge heart and so much more for little ones.

101_1383

101_1384

Our trip yesterday was a slipping, sliding one but we did good. Just slow and easy. Mama and daddy got a new vanity, toilet, shower door plus all the goodies to put it all in there. Their bathroom is going to be so nice looking. Robb, one of my daycare dad’s, is doing the work and his work is so good. He’s also so good to my parents and for my parents. I’ll share pictures when it’s all completed. Remodeling wasn’t on their agenda this winter but a water leak made it happen and now that it’s getting down they are so excited.

Tomorrow is a new week. I’m off on Monday and then work Tuesday-Saturday. I want to start my project tomorrow now that we are caught up on every other project. It’ll be something I’ve never done before so will share as I go.

Take care, it’s chore time so gotta go. Sleep well and have a great work week. God Bless!!!

Blanketeers…

Remember I told you about Project Linus asking for blankets to send to Haiti? I have to share the letter I got from Mike’s project coordinator.

Wow--what an amazing group--I have had several people offer to make blankets for the Haiti children and some are helping with postage.  The great news is that Headquarters just emailed and said we have the 10,000 blankets covered in less than 24 hours!!!!  Our chapter will be sending 100 blankets to Kansas so there is still an opportunity to help out.  We will need a few more blankets (we will need to replace our own supply) and some help with the postage for the boxes.  Thanks for those that have already responded you are such a great group!!!

Don't forget to put March 13th on your calendar for our "Make a Blanket Day" at Trinity Lutheran in Bemidji.  Come and have a great day of sewing, fellowship and food!!

Jonette Anderson

Don’t you think that’s cool? 10,000 blankets in less then 24 hours WOW!!! Mike and I will be sending ours off on Monday. We made the 4 for the Give a Day/Get a Day and then 7 for Haiti. It’s not much but it is our contribution to add to the 10,000.

Today we are suppose to go to Brainerd for groceries and new things for my parents bathroom. But first we need to wait for the ice to melt. There is a nice layer of it on everything out there plus more coming. It is so slippery right now. Jim and Mike went to work and it took them 30 minutes to drive a 10 minute route. Only saw one other person out there but it was a dad pulling his kid out of the snow bank. I’m hoping by 9:00 the roads are okay but we’ll see. When I drove semi I had a saying that there isn’t a load worth my life, well that goes for anything now days. I’ll stay put if I feel it’s just not safe and you know it’s now always mine or your driving, it’s sometimes the other persons that makes the roads not safe.

I bet you didn’t know I had driven an 18 wheeler, did ya? For 9 years I drove with my hubby. Really I did most of the driving and he did the paperwork and maintenance. By time we had been out there for 8 years I had a million miles under my belt with no accidents and just a couple tickets. We drove 48 states and two Providences. In all the jobs I’ve had, that one was “my” job. Oh I have loved each of my other jobs but if I had a chance, truck driving would be high on my list to do again. I loved it. My hubby however did not, he was more then ready to quit and go back and work with his dad at the family business so that is what we did.

Well now you know just a bit more about me. I’ve got stories I can share if anyone wants me too. When I drove, there weren’t that many lady drivers out there ,so to earn the respect of other drivers and companies was a challenge but oh so worth it.

So I’m off, I have to exercise this morning and then shower and get Scott up. He so loves staying here with us and yesterday he told me he was worried. Not about his mom or even school or a girl. He was worried that because Mike is turning 18 that Mike won’t want to spend time with him any more. He’s only 15 and afraid that when Mike becomes an adult that he won’t be able to come over and play, come over and help, come over and be part of our family. I just hugged him and told him that never, ever would he not be part of this family. That Mike will be here always for him, even if Mike goes to college he’s doing the local college and will still be here for him. When we talked it was like a big weight was lifted off his shoulders. He was worried he’d have no where to go but home where life there just isn’t the greatest place on earth. It’s a place to sleep and eat but not be appreciated for who he is. There are some people that are mama’s and daddy’s. There are others that are Mother and Father and that is what it is at their house. Love is a difficult thing at that house and though they do love each other it’s not the loving kind. Do you understand what I’m saying? It’s hard to explain. If anyone been there and done that they’d understand and if you haven’t, you’re oh so very lucky, you don’t have to understand because ignorance is bliss at times.

Okay, I’ve got to go. This was a long post with lots of words in it and I sure don’t want to bore you all. Take care and have a blessed weekend. Remember to thank the Lord for all he’s given you, for all the love he has to share with you, for giving his only son to die for us so that we, when we die, get to spend an eternity in his Love !!!

Comments….

I hated to do this but for comments I can no longer have anonymous one because I’m getting so much spam. I also had to set up that darn box with letters in it again to keep the idiots away that seem to think it’s okay to add junk in a comment. Please take the time to still leave a comment even though it means an extra step. I wanted to make it easy so did just the easy way but them idiots that leave crap for comments made me do it. I’m sorry.

Just wanted to explain the change in the comment section. I don’t want to do that have to be approved by owner thing but that will be next I suppose. Oh well, one of the not so joys of blogging.

Otherwise, I love this blogging, I love hearing, reading, seeing what everyone is doing, saying and talking about. I really love it. Heck just blog jumping brings you to some of the neatest people in the world. I’ve even found people near my home town. It is just amazing.

Have a great day, I’m going to work hard on that. Remember that this is the day the Lord has gave, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Another day, another smile, kind word, good deed. It’s what makes the world go around. God Bless you all!!

Hearts….

101_1372

101_1373_00 101_1375

Today the kids and I made hearts. I had found a heart template at the Dollar Store so Justin was able to draw the heart on the inside on the wrong side of the paper and then I cut them out, we put them on contact paper, Justin helped cut the yarn and strung it on the hearts then Hannah and Justin got to hand them on your holiday tree. It was our Christmas tree but since we didn’t take it down we’re going to use it for Valentines, St. Patrick's day and Easter. By then it’ll be full of all kinds of good things. The first of our Valentine decor.

I haven’t had “my” kids for 8 days so today was such a treat. They were so full of hugs and kisses and hold me love me. It reminds me of why I do this, I love them as much as they love me. We played outside for a little bit. The kids love helping me feed the chickens and collect the eggs. Our baby chick and chuck are growing so fast, in fact the chuck is sounding more like a duck each day. He no longer peeps, he quacks. The same for the chick. They both talk to me the entire time I’m out there either feeding the wood fire or carrying in wood or feeding the big ones. They are going to be so surprise when they are free this spring.

I got a letter tonight from Mike’s Project Linus coordinator Jonette Anderson from Blackduck, MN. Project Linus is looking for donations of handmade blankets to send to Haiti. By March 1st they are wanting to send 10,000 blankets to the children of Haiti. Mike and I have been making blankets for the Give a day/Get a Day from Disney so we just told Jonette we’ll make a few more and send them all together. They also need donations so if you don’t have the time to make a blanket maybe you’d consider a donation instead. Just imagine if you were a wee one and everything you knew and held dear was gone. To get something you could hold and cuddle and cry into just might make things just a tad bit better. For each blanket Mike and I make we say a prayer for whomever gets it. We ask that the Lord to wraps them in his arms like this blanket is wrapping them up. We ask that he takes care of the wee one parents. We can’t do lots but the little bit we do we try to do our best.

If you want to get a hold of Jonette we have her address, e-mail and phone number. I am sure she’d love it if I gave it out to anyone interested. Just comment here or e-mail me and I’ll send it to you.

So that was our day here. Not a bad one at all. I hope you had a great day. Sleep well my friends. Take care and God Bless!!

Being creative…

Nope, not the artsy farts stuff….wishful thinking though. I have been without kids, daycare kids, now for 8 days, means no income but it does mean I’ve gotten lots done but…means no income. For a family that live paycheck to paycheck, well that hurts. So not to be a downer because I refuse to go there. It’s time to be creative. I put up lots of veggies this fall, have plenty of meat from butchering so it’s time to put two and two together and see what I can make. I have to cook a meal for the store (for a group of 4 people) and am thinking corn chowder but haven’t a clue what’s in there so am looking for a recipe. Do you have a good one to share?  What do you fix with that? I can make fresh bread. I also have chicken out, just the cut up stuff….sorta tired of just baking and hot dishes, need something new, got any ideas? I know there are tons of recipes out there but thought I’d ask you guys for something that you like and that we could try. Remember my life style change, it’s also extending to Jim and Mike. I think both can handle eating healthier too.

I’m going to work on our blankets for the Give a Day/Get a Day. We got the material and have done the trimming so will get started on them. Then I think I’ll get the bathroom closet cleaned out. The last one I’m going to do for a while. I have some knick knacks to donate the next time I’m in town and also have a bag of goodies for Kim and family. I’m pretty sure when I’m done with the closet there will be some little people clothes too. I seem to gather them each summer at garage sales and stick them in the closet for spares. It’s fun to let the kids go pick and choose but boy does it make for a mess in there too.

I was hoping to have something fun, creative to share or something with a bit of wit in it but I’m just a bit down so hard to do that. Sorry.

I wish you all a great day. I’m going to work on it. Take care and God Bless!!!

Rules for 2010…

1. Wake Up  Decide to have a good day.
"Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up  The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7
3 . Shut Up
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up

For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything. “Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good." Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up

To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up

For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up
Your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything; Instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING." Philippians 4:6

Tubing is NOT for sissy’s!!!!

Hey, it’s not for a fat lady either. Oh it was so much fun and we had a blast but the day after, you’d think I was a million years old. I hurt from head to toe and can’t even take a deep breath without being a sissy and screaming. I am though, very willing to go again. Just not today!! :o)

101_1357

See where you hang on to get back up the hill. Yes, it’s nice you don’t have to walk up the hill but…..trying to catch the handle as it goes past, get your fat butt, tube and all to move on sticky snow and hold on for dear life as you get pulled up the hill and letting go at the right time so you don’t have to either slide back down the hill and get yelled at or rolling off like a 30 gallon drum rolling down the hill. The timing is important, very important.

101_1364_00 101_1365_00

101_1367_00

I’d say that even though this morning is tough, if you ever get a chance to go, GO!!!! You won’t regret it at all. And the best part to be with Mike and the scouts, it’s great!!!!

So today even though I’m suppose to exercise, I don’t see that happen, at least not this morning. I may just go for a walk today and get back at it tomorrow. Between cross country skiing on Saturday, Tubing yesterday I’m doing pretty good in the exercise department.

I have no kids today so it’s the day of cleaning, going to see mama and daddy, and I want to start my “secret” project. Remember this? What am I going to be? Well soon I’ll show you!!

101_1280

Okay, take care and have a blessed day.

Skiing….

  101_1348

Oh it was so much fun. Only fell once. The weather was perfect. Mike and I had a blast and we were able to go an extra loop which was wonderful. Mike and I are going to go again next weekend. It’s a bit expensive, $15.00 each with the day permit and ski rental, but I turned in all my change and decided to use it for fun.

Just wanted to share our day. If you can take time out to spend it with you child/ren. They grow up so very fast.

Have a great day tomorrow. Jim and I will go shopping while Mike relaxes. Jim wants to get a water softener and they are on sale. I’m not sure if I like that idea or not but will just see.

Take care my friend, God Bless!!!

I was visiting….

I have gone to everyone one of you that have followed my blog, posted a comment or sent me an e-mail. I try and leave comments because I know you have to enjoy them as much as I do. I have seem so many great kids, parents, hubbies, families. I have read so many funnies my insides hurt. I have cried and prayed for some. I love the recipes, the ideas, the ways you guys do things. It is just so very amazing this blog world. I haven’t a clue when it started, where it started but thank you Kim for getting me started.

Now I know that most of us has seen this but I couldn’t help but put it out here again. I was visiting Robin and was reading her stuff and came across this mom video that I wanted to share with you. It’s a YouTube so I apologize if you’re on dial-up and can’t get it. I’ll just tell you when you get cable, DL or anything faster come back and check it out.

Here it is….

I’m waiting for Mike to get home from work and we’ll be heading out skiing. I’m so excited. Okay, gotta run. Take care and enjoy your weekend. God Bless!!!

15 minutes….

That’s all I have before I have to shut this thing off and get my chores done. This blogging and reading and following and ……oh how I love it all but boy does it eat up time. That’s okay I’ll just limit myself, yeah right…like I’ll limit myself to how much chocolate I can eat. Not good, really not good.

I finished up my kitchen cupboard yesterday. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. What do you think….

101_1322

Before…..oh so scary…..

101_1332

Much better….

See the I’m Sorry on the door? Here’s what it says…I’m sorry I lied. Mike had some homework and it was an issue at the time to bring it home and get it done. Well he didn’t because he wanted to play. So I made him make me an I’m sorry why I did it letter and this is what he did….

101_1324

I also found this in my cupboard….

101_1323

I can’t eat strawberries in any form, imitation or real so Mike got a bag of Skittles and shared them with me but first ate all the red ones out so I could have them too.

Did you lose a pen when I was at your house? Did you walk by me with one and didn’t have one afterwards… I just might have it. Mike and I go to all the Trade Shows, fairs and everything and collect all the pens and pencils they have around. I’m sure we also pick them up for other places but I know we don’t mean too, it just happens.

101_1330

And last but not least….remember this toilet paper award Well Jim just laughed and said at least I can do it 10 times in a row. Hey, we’ve been married just about 30 years and he’s now just taking responsibility for the toilet paper. I’m pretty sure I’ve done it more then 10 times in a row. Oh well, it’s sitting on the window sill in the bathroom and he did love it. So really, that’s what matters, he is doing the toilet paper and though it’s not a hard job it is one less one for me to remember to do. Thanks Dear!!!

Okay my time is up and I still want to do a quick post on my Life Style Change. So I better get going. Take care everyone and have a blessed weekend. Find time to relax and enjoy. I’m going cross country skiing with Mike. Not to relaxing but way enjoyable. I love my kid!!!

Friday, January 15, 2010

Do you…

Do you change your toilet paper when it runs out, does your hubby? Does it just sit on the floor waiting for that magical person or the wasn’t me person to put it on the roll? Well my hubby decided I just wasn’t doing it right or fast enough. No not a crabby thing, just a I can do it thing. So for the past 10 changes he’s done it. On each empty roll he writes the number of the roll on it so I know that he’s done it that many times in a row. Well today he did his 10th roll change and I made him an award. He’ll get a kick out of it and I’ll just place it in the bathroom until number 20 comes along and then I’ll do something else. I just had to share one of life’s funnies with you.

Okay back to work. I got the tree down, laundry going, house vacuumed, dishes done, bathroom cleaned…but of course there’s still the floors to wash, more laundry to do, a dishwasher that has to be cleaned out and I still want to get to my cupboard today. I’ll share that one with you when I get there. It’s bad. Does anyone have one of those junk cabinets where everything goes in the kitchen. Mine has everything in there, you’ll see.

Take care and God Bless!!!

Oh lookie…..

Lookie at what one of my daycare grandma’s gave me. And to think this is only 1/4 of what was in the boxes. I kept lots for my jewelry makings, I have some for Kim and the kids got a bunch of dress up pieces, then there were some that weren’t useable so got trashed but oh the fun. See…

I had Hannah and Justin part of this week and since it was finally nice out we headed outside to play. Hannah is such a ham and Justin is so patient with his little sister. She wants to do just what he’s doing all the time. I love them both so much.

One afternoon Justin didn’t get up so good from nap so we let him watch a movie and Hannah and I played in my button box. She has such a blast. See….
